This is probably one of the most frequent questions I receive from marketing leads. Although there are plenty of groups, communities, and job listing websites focused on content roles, hiring content people is still a struggle for a lot of marketing managers.

Their go-to websites are Upwork, Wellfound (former AngelList), and Problogger. And they’re all good, but if you’re not getting the applications you’re expecting on these websites, there are plenty of other options!

So without further ado, here are some nice places on the internet where you can find good content strategists, marketers, and writers.

1. Content Strategists group on Facebook

I know few people are still using Facebook, but this groups is rather engaged, and its members have tons of experience in both content strategy and content marketing.

The group is private and has over 6k members, and sharing jobs is allowed, as long as you’re not spamming the community. The only requirements for joining are:

“1. Something on your profile that demonstrates a connection or interest in content strategy or related fields

OR

2. A friend/connection who is already a member of this group

We're working hard to keep this group on topic and spam free.”

2. Clearvoice

The advantage of Clearvoice is that you can directly filter talent by position or skillset, so if you’re looking for content strategists for example, you can use the filter in the main navigation.

You can view a couple of contributors and their profile pages / CVs without logging in, but for access to all contributors, you need to create an account.

3. Contently

Similar to Clearvoice, Contently gives you access to a wide network of freelancers who can help you create content in various formats.

Their members are vetted, and you can see their profile pages and CVs with a free account, but Contently offers marketing services as well, so you can hire through them if you require a lot of content, regularly.

By the way, Contently is a content marketing / collaboration platform, so it offers much more than access to a network of content creators.

4. Superpath community on Slack

This is probably one of my favorite communities, as it’s super engaged and very well structured. I recommend joining it even if you’re not looking to hire right now, just for the idea exchange.

Superpath has over 9.8k+ members at the time of writing, and offers a dedicated job board where you can add your projects for free, but you have to be a member to post.

5. Working in Content

I love this project in particular because it’s quite new, and the guy behind it did a great job promoting it and growing its following.

You can post content strategy, marketing, writing, content design jobs — the listings are not free though, so keep that in mind before starting to fill in the description.

6. Indie Hackers

This community is pretty awesome if you’re looking for creators, as it brings together marketers, sales people, and developers. For content services specifically, you can check the BloggersPodcasters, or Substack Newsletter groups and see which members offer their services there.

Speaking of the Substack community, you can also browse through the various newsletters there and ask the creators if they’d like to work with you, or if they’re open to sponsored posts and content syndication offers.

7. Bonus: Medium

This one should be pretty obvious, but it’s not. Yes, if you’re looking for writers who specialize in a particular topic, you should definitely take a look on Medium too, and see who posts consistently.

The awesome part about recruiting writers or content creators on Medium is that you can already see their writing style, their following, what types of people engage with their content, which publications they collaborate with, and so on.

Hope this helps! :) If you know other communities or platforms dedicated to content people and with an engaged following, please feel free to share the links below.
